📖 Daniel in the Lions’ Den – Week 1
Theme: Trusting God Even When It’s Hard
1️⃣ Opening Prayer (5 minutes)
-
Thank God for being with us always.
-
Ask Him to help us learn courage and faith like Daniel.
2️⃣ Bible Reading (10 minutes)
-
Read Daniel 6:1–10 together.
-
Younger kids: summarize in story form (Daniel prays even when told not to).
-
Older kids: read directly from the Bible and highlight key verses.
-
-
Pause to ask:
-
What did Daniel do three times a day?
-
Why was that important?
-
Would you be brave enough to do the same?
-
3️⃣ Discussion & Thought Exercise (10 minutes)
-
Talk about a time when standing up for what’s right feels hard (peer pressure, telling the truth, praying in public).
-
Activity: Give each child a piece of paper. Have them draw or write one thing they want to be brave about this week (e.g., saying grace at lunch, standing up for a friend, being honest).
4️⃣ Interactive Activity (15 minutes)
-
Younger Kids: Pretend play – set up chairs or pillows as a “den.” Have one child pretend to be Daniel praying, while others are “lions.” At the end, remind them: God is bigger than the lions.
-
Older Kids: Memory verse challenge – learn Daniel 6:10b: “He got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.” Practice saying it three times, like Daniel prayed three times a day.
5️⃣ Life Application Challenge (5–10 minutes)
-
Daily Practice: Encourage kids to pray three times a day this week (morning, lunch, bedtime). Parents can join in.
-
Visual Reminder: Make a prayer chart for the week. Every time they pray, add a sticker or check mark.
Closing Prayer (2–3 minutes)
-
Thank God for hearing our prayers.
-
Ask Him to make us bold and faithful like Daniel.
